Modern Kitchen

About this Project

This small builder kitchen was given a custom look.  The countertops were replaced with white quartz, which was carried to the floor at the end of the peninsula to create a linear waterfall feature.  The new back splash features a combination of glass tiles and white calacatta marble with natural grey veining, in a random link pattern.  The upper cabinets above the stove were removed and replaced with a large linear chimney-style hood fan, and the back splash tile was carried to the ceiling; this draws the eye upward and becomes the new focal point of the kitchen.  A large square under-mount sink and long door handles continue the linear look, while the curved industrial style faucet adds a contrasting shape.  The dark cabinets against the white counter tops and back splash, create a high contrast look, which is carried into the eating area with the black tempered glass tabletop and the white leather chairs.  Colour is added to this black-and-white space with bold pops of red in the small appliances and floral arrangement. Modern chrome and crystal light fixtures and a bold abstract painting complete the look.
